Hardware

The AX4 and AX2 boards contain all the hardware functions necessary to realize a stand alone axis control system or a Personal Computer or Industrial Computer based Numeric control. These boards are in ISA standard 8 bit format. Main characteristics are:
Four axes (AX4) or two axes (AX2) configurations. Each axis is provided with standard differential 5V encoder and command analog output +-10V with 12 bit resolution.
Eight analog general purpose inputs to read Joystick, LVDT, potentiometers or other (AX4 only). The range is between -10V. e +10V. with 12 bits resolution. All input channels are optoisolated from the rest of the board without common grounds.
Fourtyeight (twentyfour for AX2) digital optoisolated input and twentyfour (sixteen for AX2) digitali optoisolated output ready for industrial 24V. The outputs are powered separately each group of eight, and thus it is possible to activate them with separate powers.
Power supply of digital part from the PC bus or from external power supply.
RAM Memory battery backed up to store configuration data or programs up to 128Kbyte.
Graphic or standard text mode LDC Interface and 32 matrix keyboard for simple operator terminal. See TASTJ
PC104 bus extension for optional expansions or to carry the CPU module for stand alone applications.
These boards can be delivered in an industrial container( and , that is complete with CPU, power supply, keyboard with graphic LCD. In this arrangment the application software can be loaded into flash rom.

Software

The boards are supplied with a base software through which the customer can develop his applications. This base software contails all the hardware access functions, and all the functions necessary to create an axes control system (point to point move, trajectory generation, PID, linear and circular interpolation, ...). Alternatively a complete application software can be supplied.
Main characteristics are:
Software in the form of a linkable library, linkable with programs written with the most common languages (C e C++ advised)and for the most common compilers
Routines to read axes positions and speed, to command different movements, to access the keyboard and display, and to use memory and digital or analog I/Os.
Complete Kernel for real time operation, but flexible with the addition of user defined funtions.

With MEM, REM e RA01 boards it is possible to build complete industrial systems with optoisolated digital and analog inputs and outputs usin a Personal Computer or Industrial Computer. The MEM board is a short format 8 bits ISA board, and is plugged into any free slot of a PC. The REM board implements the digital IOs, while the RA01 implements the analog IOs.
Each REM board have 64 digital inputs and outputs. All IOs are optoisolated, operating at 24V, and the outputs are capable of driving up to 2A with overload and short circuit protection. Analog inputs and outputs are independently configurable with different voltages ranges and have a true 12bits resolution.
The main characteristics of these boards are:
Tutti gli ingressi ed le uscite della scheda REM e della scheda RA01 sono disponibili su morsettiera industriale estraibile. Le schede possono essere installate lontano dal PC, e collegate ad esso tramite un cavo piatto.
A single MEM board can be used with all combinations of REM and RA01 boards up to 32 total.
the REM board input and outputs are independently optoisolated and with separate power and common each group of 8 bits. Output overload and short protected driving up to 2A.
Twentyfour inputs, Twentyfour outputs and sixteen configurable I/Os for a total of 64 mixed IOs. Several REMs can be connected to the same MEM and more that one MEM can be plugged into a PC for a grand total of thousands of IOs.
Eight analog inputs and eight analog outputs on the RA01, with independend configuration range of -10V/+10V, 0V/+10V, -5V/+5V or 0V/+5V. The analogic section of the RA01 board is optoisolated from the digital part and no ground is connected together within the board.
Hardware wachdog to shut all digital outputs off in case of delayed or absent refrech from the PC.
Battery backed Ram on the MEM board to keep process data from 2Kbyte (standard) up to 32Kbyte.

The TASTJ board is a membrane keyboard capable to carry also a graphic display grafico up to 128x64 pixels. The keys are generic with numbers, arrows, editing and confirmation. It is also possible, with suitable software to enter alfanumeric data from this keyboard. Four signalling leds help operating, the keyboard with visual feedback. The main characteristics of these boards are:
Thirtyone keys with tactile feedback comprising the numeric, arrow, editing, function, confirm and cancel. Double functions give access to alphabetic and additional function keys.
Four led to indicate ready, error, shift and home conditions
It is possible to regulate the display contrast with an on board trimmer.
Completely compatible with Ax2 and Ax4 boards

The Fr02 board is a board used to drive induction or powder brakes. This is a typical example of a special dedicated design, and it is shown here to demonstrate the capability of Studio Ferraris to make special designs on customer specifications. Ask us if you have any particular specification of functions or shape.

Special Software

Studio Ferraris is also able to design, write and test dedicated software for industrial applications. The capabilities and expertise range from commercial devices interfacing (PLC, Instruments, ...), to real time management of motors or processes, to device driver design for the most common operating systems (Win 95/98, Win NT/2000, Linux, ...). We have also designed user interfaces for industrial applications.
